Shopping. Baking. Decorating. Caroling. Traveling. With such a long to-do list, it would be easy to skip over something as seemingly trivial as hair. Don’t let this season be hairific. Try one of these three simple looks at your next company Christmas party, family gathering, or girls night out.

City Slicker Look

City Slicker

Part your hair in the middle or give yourself a deep side part to add a touch of drama and slick your hair back into a sleek and elegant bun at the nape of your neck. Start by working in a smoothing serum (Pureology’s Shine Max or Redken’s Glass 01). After parting your hair with a comb, pull your hair toward the nape and tie in a low ponytail. Twist into a chignon and secure with bobby pins.

Go Big or Go Home Look

Go Big or Go Home

Soft, retro, and easy to recreate. After spraying in a thickener (Redken’s Guts 10), blow hair dry and part on the side. Use a half-inch curling iron to curl your hair. Begin at ear height and keep the hair on the top of your head flat. Pin each curl. Once cool, unwind the curls and separate with your fingers. Maintain the bounciness by spraying your hair with hairspray (Redken’s Control Addict 28 or S Factor’s Vivacious Hairspray).

Braids for Days Look

Braids for Days

Get this look by parting your hair in the middle and using the front pieces on either side to start two french braids. Run the braids until you reach the tips of your ears. Always create a tight braid. If you prefer a softer look, loosen afterwards with your fingers. Spritz with hairspray to tame frizz. To create texture, curl your hair with a one-inch curling iron before beginning this look. (This is a great look for “dirty” hair as well. Braids make it easy to hide greasy hair and these french braids pull the hair away from the face.)
